Tara river, also known as the “Tear of Europe”, is a river in Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. It emerges from the confluence of the Opasnica and Veruša Rivers in the Komovi Mountains, part of Dinaric Alps of Montenegro. The total length is 144 km, of which 104 km are in Montenegro, while the final 40 km are in Bosnia and Herzegovina; Tara canyon is very vivid It has rich flora and fauna, It’s not nearly as big as Colorado canyon but It surely doesn’t look like wasteland.
The Tara River cuts the Tara River Canyon, the longest canyon in Montenegro and Europe and second longest in the world after Grand Canyon, at 78 kilometers in length and 1,300 meters at its deepest. The canyon is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is a part of Durmitor National Park.
Tara river is wild, she is ice cold and very clean. Tara is also ideal for rafting and fishing. During the spring the water levels can reach level IV and even up to level V difficulty (international measurement of rafting difficulty) and during the summer It is level III difficulty. The most interesting part for white water rafting is the last 20 kilometers.
Rafting camp Rajska Rijeka is a team of adventurers and nature lovers; We offer one day rafting tours as well as multi-day tours. Choose between the most interesting part for Tara river rafting (23 kilometers long) or go on a four day adventure and experience the complete rafting route (90 kilometers long). After the Tara rafting adventure we will return you to Hum, rest, hang out with amazing people, try out our traditional food, It’s up to you.
Do not worry about rafting if you haven’t previously done it, our skippers will explain everything to you .
They will talk about the boat, instruction on how and what to do while on a rafting tour, behavior if anything happens etc. All the visitors will receive high quality equipment, bag for your gear (cameras, phones etc).
Our guides will transport you to rafting start point and they will stop occasionally so you can take photos or enjoy the view.
Note: Weather may change so you should have something warm to wear if the temperature goes down.
